These trips are to give the participants an ocean experience that is not focused on fishing, but rather the dynamic ecosystem that exists right here off the coast of Cape Hatteras.  The Coastal Nature Cruises we have a chance to observe a variety of seabirds, whales, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks, and rays that frequent our coast.   There are amazing things to see offshore of Cape Hatteras!  Let us know if there is anything you are interested in seeing, or any questions you have!  Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will see any particular species, or even type of animal, but you never know what you can see unless you go looking!

We do not offer galley service on the Stormy Petrel, so please bring all food and drink you need for the cruise.  Small to medium sized coolers are welcome and should be suitable to hold all you need!  Please don't forget your sunglasses (polarized lenses are a plus for seeing some of the marine wildlife), hats, and sunscreen!  We ask that you wear soft-soled shoes on the boat.  Be prepared for the weather - bring a rain jacket just in case - and we recommend dressing in layers...sometimes it's much warmer in the hot waters of the Gulf Stream than it was when you left in the morning!  If you have binoculars, be sure to bring them along - they can help you to get a better look at some of the cetaceans and birds we might see;  not every animal will approach us for easy viewing!  Be sure to remember your camera - our boat is fairly stable and you should be able to get some nice pictures of anything that does come in close enough to photograph (don't forget film/memory cards!!)!

Seasickness:  If you think there's a chance you might get sick, please take your medication before the trip!  Once you feel sick, it's too late for any medications to work!  Be sure to eat a good breakfast and snack throughout the day.  Also make sure to drink enough water, it's easy to get dehydrated!
